Learning to Know the God Who Always Does What Is Right
Opening Scripture
“For the Lord is righteous;
He loves righteous deeds;
the upright shall behold His face.”
— Psalm 11:7
When Right and Easy Are Not the Same
There are moments in leadership when you know what the right decision is — and you also know it will cost you.
During my corporate years, I faced moments when I could have adjusted the numbers, taken a shortcut, or avoided a hard conversation. No one would have known. It would have made the month look better. It would have protected my position. It would have kept things comfortable.
But I would have known.
Right and easy are rarely the same road.
Righteousness is not about appearing moral. It is about alignment — choosing what is right even when it is not convenient, profitable, or applauded.
Scripture tells us that God is righteous. That means He does not bend what is right to preserve comfort. He does not shift standards to avoid conflict. He does not compromise truth to win approval.
And that is good news.
Who God Is: Right in All He Does
Psalm 11 declares, “The Lord is righteous.”
Righteousness means God is always aligned with what is true, good, and just. He does not act impulsively. He does not contradict His own character. He does not move outside the boundaries of what is right.
His righteousness is not selective.
It is consistent.
Throughout the Old Testament, we see God’s righteous dealings — patient, measured, faithful to His covenant. He does not overlook evil, but neither does He act unjustly.
That righteousness is fully revealed in Christ.
Jesus does not distort truth to gain popularity. He does not compromise holiness to avoid rejection. He embodies righteousness not as harshness, but as perfect alignment with the Father.
To see Jesus is to see righteousness lived without cruelty.
This is how God makes Himself known.
Grace Before Action
Righteousness can easily become performance if misunderstood.
If we think righteousness means earning God’s approval, we will either strive endlessly or give up entirely.
Scripture teaches something deeper.
God’s righteousness is not a ladder we climb.
It is a gift we receive.
Through Christ, we are brought into right standing before God — not because we have performed flawlessly, but because He has acted faithfully.
We do not pursue righteousness to secure relationship.
We pursue righteousness because we have been brought into relationship.
To know God is to trust that His righteousness is not against us — it is for us.
What Righteousness Looks Like in Real Life
Righteousness shows up quietly.
It looks like:
- Telling the truth when silence would protect you
- Keeping commitments when they become inconvenient
- Treating people fairly even when you hold authority
- Refusing shortcuts that compromise integrity
Righteousness is strength governed by truth.
It is not loud.
It is steady.
It does not demand applause.
It demands alignment.
And alignment grows when we walk closely with a righteous God.
This Week’s Training
This week is not about proving your moral strength.
It is about aligning your life with a righteous God.
- Identify one area where convenience has tempted compromise.
- Speak this truth aloud: “God is righteous, and He has made me right through Christ.”
- Take one practical step that reflects integrity over ease.
Righteousness is not pressure.
It is clarity rooted in grace.
Closing Reflection
God is righteous.
He always does what is right — not partially, not occasionally, but completely.
In Jesus, we see righteousness without harshness and truth without fear.
To know God is to trust His moral clarity.
To walk with Him is to grow in quiet integrity.
Righteousness is not about perfection.
It is about belonging to the One who is always right — and learning to live aligned with Him.
