God Is Faithful – Leader’s Guide – Week 1

📖 WEEK 1 — GOD IS FAITHFUL

The Character of God — In Us and Through Us

Main Passage:

“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
for His compassions never fail.
They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.”
Lamentations 3 : 22-23

🕯️ Opening (5 minutes)

Leader says:
“Welcome back, everyone! Tonight we officially begin our 52-week journey called Becoming More Like Him.
Over the past year we’ve talked about the need for change, how we speak, and how wisdom from Ecclesiastes shows us what truly matters.
Now we’ll learn how the character of God can be formed in us and shown through us.

Our first focus is simple but powerful — Faithfulness.

Opening Question

“Think of someone in your life who always keeps their word — a parent, a mentor, a friend.
How has their dependability affected your trust in them?”

(Pause for 2 or 3 short responses.)

Transition:

“Faithfulness builds trust. Trust builds relationship.
When we see God’s faithfulness, it gives us courage to be faithful too.”

📖 Scripture Reading (5 minutes)

Read aloud slowly:

“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
for His compassions never fail.
They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.”

Leader says:
“These words were written in the middle of devastation.
Jerusalem had fallen; Jeremiah’s world was in ruins.
Yet even there he declared, ‘Great is Your faithfulness.’
He trusted that God’s steady heart doesn’t change — even when everything else does.”

💬 Teaching (8 minutes)

“Faithfulness means steady commitment over time.
God’s faithfulness is His reliability — His mercy showing up new every morning.
He’s not faithful because we deserve it; He’s faithful because it’s who He is.

Notice something — faithfulness is quiet.
It doesn’t shout for attention; it just keeps showing up.
That same spirit of consistency is what He wants to shape in us.

When we keep our word, when we finish what we start, when we show up even when no one notices — we mirror God’s faithfulness.
It’s strength wrapped in peace.
It’s love that doesn’t quit.”

💡 Discussion (10 minutes)

  1. In your own words, what does faithfulness look like in everyday life?
  2. Why is it easier to start things than to stay consistent with them?
  3. When have you seen someone’s steady faithfulness strengthen your faith?
  4. Where do you sense God calling you to be more dependable right now?

(Encourage brief, honest sharing — keep the tone practical and encouraging.)

🪞 Application & Challenge (5 minutes)

“Let’s make it personal.
This week, choose one simple commitment you can keep.
Maybe it’s finishing a task you’ve been postponing, keeping a promise to someone, or carving out quiet time with God every morning.

Do it faithfully — not for applause, but as worship.
Let your consistency point others to Him.”

🙏 Closing Prayer (5 minutes)

“Father, thank You for being faithful when we are not.
Teach us to keep our word as You keep Yours.
Help us to show up with integrity and love in every area of life.
Let Your faithfulness shine through our actions this week.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
