Standing Strong Against Temptation
Theme: Integrity When No One Is Watching
Scripture: Genesis 39:9
1️⃣ Opening Icebreaker (5 min)
Leader:
“What’s one small temptation that’s hard to resist—scrolling too long, gossip, lying to avoid trouble, or eating what you shouldn’t?”
(Let 2–3 share.)
Transition:
“We all face temptation. It’s not just about big sins—it’s about small choices that build or break our character. Tonight, we’ll see how Joseph stayed faithful when no one was watching.”
2️⃣ Story – Joseph in Potiphar’s House (10 min)
Joseph’s life was filled with injustice—betrayed, enslaved, forgotten. Yet even as a servant, he worked with excellence. Potiphar noticed and trusted him.
Then came temptation. Potiphar’s wife pursued him daily. Joseph could’ve given in, but he said, ‘How could I do this wicked thing and sin against God?’
He didn’t resist out of fear of getting caught. He resisted out of love and reverence for God.
3️⃣ Teaching Point (10 min)
Main Idea: Integrity means doing what’s right even when no one sees.
- Temptation tests who you truly are.
- Joseph didn’t rely on feelings; he relied on faith.
- Godly conviction gives strength when emotions are weak.
Encourage students to decide in advance what they stand for. Integrity is easier when the decision has already been made.
4️⃣ Discussion (15 min)
- Why was Joseph able to resist when it would’ve been easier to give in?
- What are some temptations teens face that challenge integrity?
- How can remembering God’s presence help you make the right choice?
- What happens when integrity costs you something—but earns you respect later?
- What’s one small area where you can practice integrity this week?
5️⃣ Challenge of the Week (5 min)
“Do the right thing when no one’s looking.”
Choose one area—school, honesty, purity, or friendship—and commit to one action that honors God.
Examples:
- Tell the truth even if it costs you popularity.
- Walk away from gossip or crude jokes.
- Be responsible with your phone or media habits.
- Follow through on promises without reminders.
6️⃣ Closing Thought (5 min)
Leader:
“Integrity isn’t built in the spotlight—it’s built in secret. God sees every choice, and He rewards faithfulness.”
Closing Prayer:
“Lord, help us stand strong when no one sees. Give us conviction like Joseph, and remind us that You’re always near. Amen.”
