GOD IS JUST – Week 2 – Leaders Guide

GOD IS JUST

The Character of God — In Us and Through Us

Main Verse: Micah 6:8

🕯️ Opening (5 minutes)

Leader says:
“Welcome back, everyone! Last week we talked about God’s faithfulness — how He always keeps His word.
This week we look at another side of His character: justice — doing what’s right, even when no one sees.

Justice isn’t about punishment; it’s about alignment with God’s truth.”

Opening Question

“When was a time you had to do the right thing, even when no one noticed or it cost you something?”

(Pause for 2–3 responses.)

Transition:

“Justice begins where no one’s looking — in the heart of a person who wants to honor God.”

📖 Scripture Reading (5 minutes)

Read aloud:

“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.” — Micah 6:8

Leader explains:
“This verse captures God’s expectations in one sentence.
He wants our lives to reflect His justice, mercy, and humility — the three qualities that show the world who He is.”

💬 Teaching (8 minutes)

“Justice is simply doing what’s right because it’s right — not because someone’s watching.
That’s how God operates. His justice flows from His love and truth.
When we act justly, we honor Him by reflecting His nature.

Justice means treating people fairly, speaking honestly, and living consistently with God’s Word.
It’s choosing integrity when compromise feels easier.

Micah 6:8 calls us to act justly — not just believe in justice.
Justice is a verb.”

💡 Discussion (10 minutes)

  1. How does God’s justice differ from human justice?

  2. Why is it often hardest to “do right” when no one is watching?

  3. What’s one situation this week where you can choose integrity over convenience?

  4. How can justice and mercy work together instead of competing?

🪞 Application & Challenge (5 minutes)

“This week, think about one area of life where you’ve been tempted to take a shortcut — at work, at home, or in relationships.
Instead, ask God to help you act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly.
Then do what’s right quietly — just between you and Him.”

🙏 Closing Prayer (5 minutes)

“Lord, thank You that You are perfectly just and perfectly merciful.
Teach us to love what is right and to walk humbly in Your truth.
Give us the courage to do what honors You, even when it’s hard or unseen.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
