Sing Oh Barren – No Children, No Problem!

Sing Oh Barren – No Children, No Problem!

Imagine my surprise and confusion when I, a woman who was a professional singer and could not bear children, received a word from the Lord!

Isaiah 54:1-2  “Shout for joy,(Sing*) O barren one, she who has not given birth; Break forth into joyful shouting and rejoice, she who has not gone into labor [with child]! For the [spiritual] sons of the desolate one will be more numerous Than the sons of the married woman,” says the Lord. 2 “Enlarge the site of your tent [to make room for more children];

In many of the translations it literally says “Sing O’ barren woman.” As you can imagine one who is barren and not even married, would not want to sing about their inability to bear a child, let alone talk about it. Yet in the moment this prophecy directly from God came to me, a deeper understanding of a path I was being set upon that opened my eyes, came with it as well.

God showed me other scriptures :

Matthew 19:14 Amplified Bible

14 But He said, “Leave the children alone, and do not forbid them from coming to Me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

Ephesians 1:5 Amplified Bible

He predestined and lovingly planned for us to be adopted to Himself as [His own] children through Jesus Christ, in accordance with the kind intention and good pleasure of His will—

My Story

As we go into  National Adoption Month my journey with the children of the world is brought front and center in my mind, and so my story!

In 1995 at 37 years old, I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer that I had been walking around with for about a year and a half unbeknownst to me. Since my cancer was what they call estrogen receptive, part of my healing would mean they would put me into a false menopause which became permanent and left me with the inability to ever have a child.

I was a singer/actor who was touring nationally and my career had always been front and center. I assumed I had many years to find my partner in life and still have a family if this was my intended journey.

CANCER

When the cancer diagnosis came I was shocked but chose to allow God to be the “Author and Finisher” of my faith and fate, and held His hand tightly as He walked me through 9 months of chemotherapy, 3 operations, 30 days of radiation and 5 years of a cancer drugs that left me in a permanent menopause at 40 years old.

One year before this diagnosis, I had just been invited to teach at a Performing Arts School and had begun to pour into the lives of more children then I could ever imagine.

The  teaching engagement that I thought was temporary and would be short, turned into a business with a dear friend for 20+ years. This friend literally saved my life by urging me to go to the doctor. And that was the reason I found out I had cancer (but that is another article and story for the future). The path of the children that would be brought into my life had begun and with it this life changing event brought me to the path God had for me.

Fast Forward

Fast forward to 2006. I heard the call of God to start setting my sight, on a vision He had given me.

I was to start charting a Church of the Arts and an Evangelistic School of the Arts that used the Arts for God’s Glory. In 2007, I sold my business and walked into a ministry in a Mega Church that allowed me to train, mentor, and lead a congregation of children not just locally but took me to the corners of the earth in Bangladesh as well. In 2009 God took me to Bangladesh with a small team where I had the privilege of using the arts to teach and preach to 120 children, whose love and  enthusiasm for  God encouraged me for the time I spent with them.

Many Children

For 7 years I worked with ages 4 1/2 and up teaching, preaching, loving and caring for the children of others, that remain in my life to this very day.

I was a singer/actor who heard God say, I want you to be a Pastor and train my children. My response, I laughed and said “Seriously Lord?” I was the most unlikely candidate to lead a flock! But I did what God told me to do and started studying because this 10 year journey to 2016 would be my training to open up my own  traveling church and school of the arts, and fulfill the call of training up generations of all ages, His children of the world.

In 2013 I suffered 4 small strokes. Once again the enemy of our soul tried to take me off the path God had for me…

God’s word tells us:

Proverbs 22:6 Amplified Bible (AMP)

Train up a child in the way he should go [teaching him to seek God’s wisdom and will for his abilities and talents],
Even when he is old he will not depart from it.

No man can take us from the path God sets before us. The tragedies that can be ours can be HIS VICTORIES IF WE GIVE HIM ALL WE ARE AND SUBMIT TO ALL HE HAS FOR US!

I am still here going strong…..nearing 60 years old in March.

Hear The Cry

I encourage you all this month to look deep within your souls and to hear the cry of the children of the world and the cry of Our Lord that tells us:

  • Do not to stop the little ones from coming to Him.
  • We are adopted by our Lord and Savior and He will never leave us or forsake us.
  • Train a child up in the way of the Lord and he will not depart from it.

How could I imagine that this barren singing woman would have more children than women in the natural that could bear children? I could not, but He could.

You my brothers and sisters, are the hands and feet of our God! You are the heart that beats with the passion of Christ if you allow your heart to be pierced with His love and His call upon your lives.

What About You?

If a turn of events has caused you not to be able to bear a child or if a turn of events this National Adoption Month has allowed you TO WELCOME or you are praying about welcoming one of God’s precious ones, young or older into your home… DO IT!!!

Love with His love, lead with His heart and wisdom and be the vessel that changes the world by loving a precious child! Loving all of God’s Children back from the pits of despair and into the adoption of our Eternal Savior.

Be Blessed <3

CAFE’ BEAT VOLUME 1
Flowing with the Heartbeat of God

God has inspired musicians, singers, craftsmen, painters, sculptors, poets, and countless other artists for millennia. God Himself is the greatest creator of all, and the arts is perhaps one of the purest forms of worship.

Café Beat: Flowing with the Heartbeat of God is a daily devotional for those with a desire to create in God, by using the arts of all genres. It is also for people who long to explore the ability to create and take the ordinary and make it extraordinary in God. This book can help strengthen your relationship with God and teach you how to:

  • explore God’s word,
    • gain a deeper understanding of what it means to eat of His “daily bread,”
    • revel in God’s word in a way that is interactive and fun,
    • explore different versions and translations of the Bible, and
    • find a new and exciting way of taking in all that God has for you.

Worshipping God can be fun and should fill you with hope and wonder. God created us so that we may go forth and create. When you paint, He holds the brush; when you write, He gives the words and they take on life in Him; when you sing, He carries the tune. There are so many ways to express yourself, and there are just as many ways to love God.
